This blog came into fruition after I developed a long list of American vs Dutch differences in my iPhone over several months.

I am living in Amsterdam for a year as I work toward my graduate degree. Before the move, I did a lot of googling about the city and lifestyles. I came across a few blogs of American expats to the Netherlands. They had some funny stories about personal experiences with “odd” Dutch customs, but I still wasn’t able to form a clear picture of what life might be like. Nothing gave me a daily view, only the notable moments of being in a foreign country.

So that’s what the blog aims to do: point out as many differences as I can find that affect my day-to-day life.

*I’ll also note that I was born and raised in Tennessee as opposed to NYC or California (which seem to be the top destinations for Dutch people), so that certainly colors my viewpoint.
